This Means WAR!

I’ve been around long enough to experience some of satan’s strategies a time or two. IGNITION will prove no different since we have shown up on the devil’s radar.

At IGNITION, several of our prayer team members met with significant obstacles, including unexplainable physical illness. As for Dee and me, the devil knows our achilles heel: While we were in Dallas, hundreds of miles away our daughter was spiking temperatures that came from nowhere. Although with trusted young adult friends, there is nothing worse for a parent than to not be there when your child is ill.

Several of our presenters had a horrendous time either getting to Dallas or returning home. And some upon return, have been met with all sorts of problems in their personal and professional lives.

Of course, there is one of the devil’s best barbs — busy-ness. After a gathering like IGNITION, it always seems like our “real” responsibilities have stacked more into the “to do” pile. The luxury of worship, reflection, fellowship, and consecration seem like distant memories. This obviously is the insideous efforts of the evil one to distract, detract, and derail your growing devotion to Jesus and His cause.

Basically this means WAR.

Fueled by worship, we have declared whose side we are on.

Ignited to disciple, we are equipping and empowering others.

Sparking a revolution, we see the world with different eyes. . . Eyes that percieve an unseen Kingdom and are willing to pay the cost to live Kingdom-lives.

Warring with the principalities, especially unseen ones can be nerve-racking, however Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to GOD. And the peace of GOD, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

No doubt you are going through something–apathy, adversity, anxiety, aloneness, attack, etc. This is war. But know full well that what GOD has started in you, what He has IGNITED in you, He will complete. This is war, but we know Who wins.

    Thanks for the rallying cry!

I’m looking for my armor right now – that helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth, shoes of peace, sword of the Holy Spirit and the shield of faith.

Thanks for the reminder that our battle is not against the seen, but the unseen – and you articulated it well.

  2. The unseen battles that are going on don’t seem to stop do they? At times you would think that weekends like Ignition would be slap full of blessings, bliss and peace. While those components were there at times, there is no questions that this planet is not our home. onward we march…

a few weeks ago i read these words of Jesus in luke 10: i saw satan fall like lightning from heaven. i have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. however, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

i, too, have been hit with life-after-IGNITION. depression and loneliness settled in like an unwelcomed guest as i work through the 3rd anniversary of my husband’s death… at times i feel defeated and it’s just too hard to put one foot in front of the other. the words of Jesus, however, push through the dense fog in my heart: satan has fallen like lightning… he is defeated; nothing will harm you… rejoice now because your name is written in heaven!

and even though the day is still long and the shadow of death still leaves its mark on my heart, i sense the light which overpowers the darkness. i sense the One who has overcome death carrying me even now. and i will stand with my brothers and sisters to lay down my life to pay whatever the cost to live that Kingdom-life.

    indeed… onward we march…

All I can say is AMEN and amen. Thank you for sharing your heart.

Valor is not expressed unless we journey through the fog. I sense GOD traveling with you and He offers us, your Kingdom family, as travel companions. We all have vulnerable moments, times when even another step seems unbearable. GOD knows this and encourages us to journey together. I deeply admire your courage, but also offer my support to you as you walk through the valley of shadows.

For now it does feel like a march, but I know that GOD offers also a dance.
God with us, God in us, whom shall we fear?

My conversations with Christ include you and asking Him to not only accompany you on the march through the fog, but also to offer you a Kingdom dance on your journey. We know our destination. We know who wins. In this we dare to give our lives and celebrate the victory as present reality.

Now may the One, who is able to write with His holy hand our names on the destiny He has designed, bring you through the valley and offer His refreshment, rescue, and rejoicing. May His grace rain down upon you and fill your heart with peace. Even when the path is shrouded by shadows, may we live knowing His Kingdom as our reality. May we do life together for His renown. To Him be all glory and honor, forever, and ever. Amen.

“i thank my God every time i remember you. in all my prayers for all of you, i always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel…” phil 1:3, 4

God, thank You for the incredible privilege of being partners with my brothers and sisters on this journey. i’m so thankful that You surround me with people who “hold up my arms” when i do not have the strength myself. and i thank You for abundantly answering the prayers that have been said on my behalf. thank You for shining through the darkness, placing Your hand on my shoulder and asking, “may I have this dance?”

    yes, Lord… i’d be delighted!

It is amazing to see the various tactics of the evil one. A colleague of mine just recently got her future side swiped (

And guess what just had to blow major bearings during the dead of winter?* Yep it would be the fairly new furnace/heater for the recently transplanted Floridians (the Martins). Hundreds of dollars we don’t have.

But the firey darts of the evil one are no match for the Armor of GOD. Play on.

*For those of you in tropical climates, yes it is still snowing here in the Midwest.
