I was caught off guard by a magazine cover the other day. I had to do a double take. Clearly on the front of this Christian periodical were these words:
DON’T GO TO CHURCH!
I must admit, it did grab my attention. Now curious, I just had to see what this was about. And turning the page, I found the context for what initially was a shocking statement. The next page delivered a clarifying and convicting message:
BE the Church
IGNITION was a gathering held nearly two months ago. And for many who have surfed by this blog, they can’t even say they were anywhere near Dallas, Texas in mid February. However IGNITION was never about a gathering, event, or program. IGNITION has always been about lighting a fire for GOD in the soul of a new generation.
Over the past 40 days we have be stoking that flame with the fuel of worship, and I would admonish that this practice not lose momentum. As we continue to offer our worship and adoration to Christ, the love affair will continue to deepen. And with that depth, a conviction builds in Christ-followers that we are His body, His friends, His disciples.
With authentic worship something miraculous happens. Jesus’ intention is that our worship of Him transform our relationship with each other too. So the added layer to the fuel of worship can be each GODfollower being ignited to love other, being ignited to disciple.
As we continue to deepen our devotion to Jesus, the coming entries are intended to spiritually prepare for discipleship gatherings that will occur this summer throughout the North American Division. GODencounters is a movement of young adults who are wholeheartedly seeking a 24/7 experience of the living GOD. Daring to deepen intimacy with Christ, GODencounters recklessly lives for His renown. It is our desire to return to the heart of GOD [Jeremiah 24/7].
So find in the coming blogs– devotionals and journal entries from GODfollowers like you. It is our hope that you will join us in this journey of devotion and focus. May the fuel of worship propel you to a life of discipleship.
We are no longer content with going to church.
It is time to BE.
